Review of cs_summit 3

Recently the third season of cs_summit ended up and now it's time to sum it up.

Winning teams

compLexity Gaming

There were no great expectations about compLexity Gaming at this tournament but the Americans couldn't be named outsiders. At the first match against OpTic, they performed not so good but it wasn't a problem for them to get to Four Best at the lower bracket. Having got there, stanislaw together with his team defeated G2 Esports and Heroic. Both of the won matches ended up by the score of 2-1, even though coL were about to lose at these matches. At the rematch with OpTic, they couldn't make it, so it resulted in the fourth place and a money reward of $15,000 for compLexity Gaming.

BIG

The German team had good chances to win the tournament as well as NRG eSports. They started to play well, winning over G2 Esports by the score of 2-0, and at the second match they defeated OpTic by the score of 2-1. At the final of the upper bracket they couldn't oppose NRG eSports and losing by the score of 1-2 they got to the lower bracket of the playoff. There they met the Danish players from OpTic who got to the lower bracket because of BIG. At this difficult battle BIG couldn't do anything to win over the Danish, who won the rematch and made it to the final. At this moment BIG's participation in cs_summit 3 finished and the collective took the 3 place, getting a money reward of $19,500.

OpTic Gaming

The Danish showed a good game at the beginning and at the end of the tournament. At the first match OpTic faced an equal team compLexity Gaming and won over Americans by the score of 2-1. At the next match OpTic played against BIG, who won the Danish opponents at at a very difficult battle by the score of 2-1. After OpTic getting to the lower bracket, they played against Ghost Gaming, defeating them by the score of 2-0. After that, they had an opportunity to win compLexity Gaming again and to leave the Americans without a chance to win the rematch. OpTic coped with the task and got to the final of the lower bracket to play with BIG at the match for getting to the Grand Final. We want to emphasize, that OpTic were strongly motivated to win this game as they really wanted to win the rematch with the Germans. At the final of the tournament held in the Bo5 format, OpTic performed against NRG eSports and managed to take only one map. OpTic Gaming managed to become a silver finalist of cs_summit 3 and got a money reward of $33,750 for their work. Due to existence of clearer favourites, we can say that coL managed to surpass the expectations of many spectators and their performance at this championship was successful for sure.

NRG eSports

The players from NRG eSports are at the top of the list of the best teams of this championship. This collective presented themselves as one of a few favourites of the championship. NRG won all the four matches they participated in. At the first battle with Ghost Gaming, they had to work hard and as a result they won by the score of 2-1. At the second match, they performed against Heroic and won over their Danish opponents by the score of 2-0. At the final of the upper bracket, NRG defeated BIG by the score of 2-1, and at the Grand Final they played with OpTic Gaming. At the Bo5 match they Americans needed only four maps to win over OpTic and their meeting ended up by the score of 3-1. NRG became the champions of cs_summit 3 and got the main money reward of $63,750.

Losing teams

Heroic

Before the start of the tournament it had become clear that Heroic were not in their best shape. So, nobody expected a lot from them and now we see that it wasn't groundless. At the first meeting the Danish players managed to win over Team Kinguin by the score of 2-0 and it was the end of their success at the tournament. At the second match of the upper bracket the Danish played against BIG who had an optimal play shape. Losing 1-2, they got to the lower bracket where they ended their participation after the meeting with compLexity. The Americans defeated Heroic by the score of 2-1, while the Danish players took the 5-6 position in the tournament getting a money reward of $5,250.

Ghost Gaming

Ghost Gaming weren't expected to have good results. The team has the lowest position in the HLTV rating, and at the matches before cs_summit 3 the collective played only with Tier-3 representatives Tier-3. It cemented the doubts about Ghost Gaming’s success. At the first match Ghost performed against the clear favourites of the tournament NRG eSports and lost by the score of 1-2. At the lower bracket they played against Team Kinguin and won over the Polish players. At the next meeting they tried to oppose the Danish players from OpTic Gaming, but their attempt was a failure and Ghost ended their participation in the tournament at the 5-6 place. Their efforts resulted in a money reward of $5,250 for the team.

G2 Esports

The French players proved that they can't fight not only with the world class teams, but also with Tier-2 teams one more time, and to change the situation you need to make crucial changes. At the first match they performed against the strongest team of Germany which is BIG and lost 0-2. The next match of the lower bracket against compLexity Gaming was the last for them. There they managed to win on one map but it wasn't enough for them. We want to pay you attention that the last two maps ended at the overtime. G2 Esports took the 7-8 place and got a money reward of $3,750.

Team Kinguin

The Polish team became the biggest disappointment of this championship.TaZ and his team are the strongest team in Poland, but at cs_summit 3 they couldn't show any good performance they audience was waiting for. At the first match against Heroic the Polish players couldn't oppose their opponents, winning two maps at eight rounds in total. At the lower bracket they had to play with Ghost Gaming, where the Americans managed to get a difficult win over Team Kinguin. So, Kinguin finished participating in cs_summit 3 after two matches and took the 7-8 place, getting a reward of $3,750.
