Valve has officially shaken up the Counter-Strike 2 competitive landscape by removing Overpass from the active map pool and bringing back Cache, one of the most beloved maps in the franchise's history.

The change marks Cache’s return to the official competitive rotation for the first time in years, ending months of speculation from fans who had hoped to see the map make a comeback following its arrival in Counter-Strike 2.

Cache Returns to Competitive Play

Few maps have left as strong a legacy in Counter-Strike as Cache. During the CS era, it became a fan favorite thanks to its balanced design, fast-paced gameplay, and memorable matches on the professional stage.

After receiving a visual overhaul and updated version for CS2, many players viewed its return to the active pool as only a matter of time. Valve has now made it official, giving both casual and professional players the opportunity to compete on the iconic battleground once again.

Overpass Leaves the Rotation

To make room for Cache, Valve has removed Overpass from the competitive map pool.

The decision is expected to have a major impact on the professional scene, where Overpass has long been a key part of many teams' map pools. Organizations that relied heavily on the map will now need to adjust their strategies, rethink veto processes, and develop new approaches around Cache.

As a result, upcoming tournaments could feature significant shifts in team preparation and overall map dynamics.

Premier Season 5 Starts Soon

The map pool update will arrive ahead of Premier Season 5, which is scheduled to begin after the current season concludes on July 6.
