Skins With Sky-High Price Tags Aren’t New to CS2

Since its transition from CS:GO, Counter-Strike 2 has maintained an active and often extravagant cosmetic market. Sales involving massive sums are far from rare. In January 2024, an AK-47 Case Hardened skin with a coveted Blue Gem pattern sold for over $1 million, cementing its status as one of the most desirable skins in the franchise.

Another prime example is the legendary AWP Dragon Lore, which, in pristine condition, can fetch prices exceeding $250,000, according to DMarket.

But the latest high-priced transaction wasn’t for a headline-grabbing skin like the Dragon Lore or a Blue Gem AK. It was for something far more humble—and far more technically unique.

Why a $0.50 Skin Sold for $45,000

Twitter user Yikspiks reported that a MAC-10 Bronzer skin was recently sold for a staggering $45,000. Normally, this unassuming skin—part of the Consumer grade (the game’s lowest rarity tier)—would go for just a few cents. So why the astronomical price tag?

The answer lies in a single number: float value.

This particular MAC-10 Bronzer has a float of 0.00000000010431, officially the lowest float value ever recorded in the history of Counter-Strike. In CS2, the float determines the condition of a skin—closer to 0.00 means factory-new, while values near 1.00 indicate heavy wear. While float has no impact on gameplay, it greatly influences aesthetic quality and market value.

So, despite being visually plain, this Bronzer skin is a technical marvel, earning its place in CS2 history.

The Origins of the MAC-10 Bronzer

The MAC-10 Bronzer was introduced on March 31, 2025, as part of the Spring Forward update. It belongs to the Radiant Collection, which includes 28 skins of varying rarities. True to its name, the Bronzer features a clean, metallic bronze finish without any flamboyant design elements.

Most players would overlook it, as its Consumer rarity usually makes it nearly worthless. But thanks to its historic float value, this particular skin is now a collector’s dream.

Radiant Collection Highlights

While the Bronzer might not turn heads visually, the Radiant Collection does include more flashy options. One standout is the AK-47 Nouveau Rouge, which sports a sleek design in red, white, and brown. This skin holds the Classified rarity tier—the fourth highest in the game—and can sell for around $600, according to CsMarketCap.
