Fernando "fer" Alvarenga has revealed that he was close to joining FURIA, with the organization seriously considering him for its roster. However, at the last minute, FURIA opted to sign Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis, whose initial project alongside s1mple and Perfecto had collapsed.

Originally, YEKINDAR had plans to build a new team featuring members from NAVI's 2021 lineup, including Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev and Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutskiy. Despite the excitement surrounding the idea, the project ultimately fell through due to challenges in securing organizational support.

In the meantime, FURIA turned to fer. According to him, the talks were serious and nearly concluded after two weeks of negotiations.

"FURIA invited me, and I agreed. We had almost everything discussed, and a meeting with the entire team was planned. But half an hour before it, YEKINDAR informed that his project wouldn't happen, and he was available again. In the end, they chose him. They explained the situation to me, I wished them luck, and that was the end of it,"— fer shared.

As a result, FURIA signed YEKINDAR and added a new primary AWPer, Danil "molodoy" Golubenko. This move marks the first time in FURIA’s history that the roster has become international. Meanwhile, s1mple and Perfecto remain teamless, though they are expected to explore new opportunities after the upcoming Major.

As for fer, he has been without a team since leaving Imperial in January 2023. In 2024, he made an attempt to qualify for PGL Major Copenhagen with O PLANO, but the effort ultimately fell short.
