Counter-Strike 2 Delivers Highly Anticipated Feature: Grenade Inspections

Valve's highly anticipated Counter-Strike 2 has entered its limited beta phase, featuring cycling maps such as Dust 2, Mirage, and now the classic Nuke in competitive mode. However, players have noticed a conspicuous absence of cars in the new version.

In addition to testing revamped versions of beloved maps, Valve has expanded the casual playlist to include the CS2 edition of Office. The development team has also dedicated efforts to enhance the game's exceptional audio experience. The latest update introduces distance effects for positional sound sources, fixes a few audio bugs, and implements a specialized audio occlusion layer to improve vertical sound positioning specifically in Nuke.

The most noteworthy addition, however, is the introduction of a new animation feature. For the first time in Counter-Strike history, players can now inspect their grenades. Much like the in-game inspection button for guns, knives, and gloves, this animation allows players to view their grenades from various angles, showcasing intricate details such as paint jobs. This update strongly implies that grenade skins may be introduced in the future, as skins have become an integral aspect of CS:GO and CS2. It is worth noting that the grenade inspection animation also highlights the impressive liquid animation within the molotov cocktail, eliciting admiration from players.

The patch notes also mention an improvement in inspect behavior for various weapons, although it may be difficult to discern the specific changes. Upon examining several weapon animations, they appeared mostly unchanged. Furthermore, Valve has implemented a tweak preventing players from jumping at the end of warmup time, which may disappoint those who enjoyed such playful antics.

Counter-Strike 2's limited beta test is currently running in parallel with regular service in CS:GO. The highly anticipated free-to-play sequel is scheduled for release this summer, bringing over all the beloved features from its predecessor. Soon, players will be able to admire their flash grenades from every angle, even if occasional mishaps result in self-blinding due to misjudged throwing angles.
