Activision has not yet officially confirmed the new installment of Call of Duty. According to numerous leaks and rumors, it will be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare IV, developed by Infinity Ward, and the game's release will take place in October this year.

A couple of hours ago, a new leak appeared online, which may signal the imminent announcement of a game. On his X social media profile, insider billbil_kun from Dealabs Magazine posted a "blurred" cover of one of Activision's upcoming games, on which you can see the silhouette of Call of Duty and several soldiers, as you can check out below:

Not so long ago, Infinity Ward revealed a statement confirming that the studio is working on its next project. Previous rumors suggested the story campaign of Modern Warfare IV will be available via early access, like its predecessor, Modern Warfare 3, as focus and support for DMZ mode. According to the latest rumor, Phillip Graves and The Shadow Company will also return in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare IV.

At the beginning of next month, players are expecting several large-scale gaming shows - State of Play (June 2), Summer Game Fest (June 5-8), and Xbox Games Showcase (June 7)—so it is possible that Modern Warfare IV could be announced at one of them.

We also know that Peter Berg (Hancock, Battleship, and Mile 22) will be the director of Call of Duty movie adaptation, set to premiere on June 30, 2028.
